Martina was born in Sassari, Sardinia, in 1982. After graduating with honors in D.A.M.S. in Bologna and specializing in Scriptwriting at RAI in Rome, she discovered her favorite way to tell stories was through drawing - especially those involving space travel, invisible elephants, and giant flying toasters.

She later studied Graphic Design at IED - European Institute of Design in Rome and has since worked as an illustrator both for Italian and international clients. Her work has been published in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France, Spain, Turkey, and South Korea.The series Gli Animali di Strambosco was shortlisted for the Premio Strega Ragazzi e Ragazze. In 2019, she won Illustrator of the Year from La Città del Sole for her project Small Things.

A fan of imaginary encyclopedias, Odradeks, and Gonzo from The Muppet Show, Martina is still in love with a magnificent Indian Ink Rotring pen 0.1, "borrowed" from her father’s desk when she was five. She currently lives and works in Milan.
