PAUL HOPPE
Paul Hoppe was born in Poland; grew up in Germany; and now resides in Brooklyn. His love for comics inspired drawing at an early age and eventually led him to turn the school newspaper into a comic magazine – a proud first accomplishment. He studied graphic design and fine arts at the University of Applied Sciences in Pforzheim before moving to New York, where he received his MFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts.
From the early days until now, the drawing has never stopped. Paul has designed for animation firms, newspapers, magazines, ad agencies and publishers. His work beyond illustration has included writing for children’s books and novels as well as self-publishing zines and comics. A passion for the craft has him teaching Sequential Art during the summer months at his alma mater and his pieces have been recognized by the Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Communication Arts and other organizations. He draws daily inspiration from the friendly, talented individuals surrounding his Pencil Factory studio, located in Greenpoint.
